Discovery-Learning Forum

Discovery-Learning Forum has worked in over (70) schools, both public and private, across Trinidad & Tobago to support the delivery of the Ministry of Education curriculum through educational games and other digital teaching resources. Games have been incorporated with Life Skills to produce unique and effective programmes for student enhancement. 

 

Discovery-Learning Forum has also worked within various communities through: vacation camps, community development programmes, NGO outreach programmes, and church youth programmes.

Mission

Our mission is accomplished through the impartation of cognitive, social and coping skills and is administered through the use of innovative tools, creative strategies and interactive activities that work together to empower inner and collective purpose. 

Position Statement

 

Discovery-Learning Forum has the capacity and competence to deliver programmes that use practical and effective tools for schools and community groups to achieve their human development and learning  objectives. Discovery-Learnng Forum has a strong operational foundation in: Teaching – Learning theories, methodologies and best practices, with strong considerations for human development and life skills perspectives.

 

Discovery-Learning Forum also has a strong creative capacity to produce customised programmes responsive to the issues of the school population and at-risk community groups. As a collaborator for change, Discovery-Learning Forum is reliable and trustworthy. Its experience and commitment to its purpose and mission is evidenced by the depths of empathy expressed while supporting clients to achieve positive outcomes from their projects. 

Barbara Chandler Bridgewater

Barbara Chandler Bridgewater is the Creative Director of Discovery-Learning Forum (and of the River Lime game!). She is a seasoned Educator with over (30) years experience teaching General Science and Biology at the secondary level in Trinidad & Tobago. In addition, Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours Botany and Applied Botany from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, along with a Diploma in Education with Distinction in Teaching Practice.

Barbara has participated in numerous workshops including: Leadership Development; Parenting Teens; Multiple Intelligences; Emotional Intelligence and Brain Development. 

 

Barbara has facilitated workshops for teachers in the use of student-centered methodologies. For over (7) years she has delivered Life Skills workshops to children, adolescents and adults. Her innovative and interactive tools, creative strategies and fun-oriented approach develop the participants' understanding of self with the ultimate goal of personal transformation to inner and collective purpose. 

 

She has also been socially active in her church as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, and Church Camp Coordinator.
